Ok so since day one of owning my luv its blown white smoke out the exhaust and seemed liked it had a slight miss then the other day it started blowing so much smoke I thought my other luv behind me was on fire because of the amount so I checked my radiator and oil and noticed oil in the coolent but I don't have any coolent in my oil and now my truck just won't start at all. It also burns thru oil like crazy and I was missing about an inch and a half of coolent. I'm hoping its just my head gasket, any ideas before I change it out

yes its your head gasket.

the reason there is oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil is that where it broke there is more pressure on the oil side than the coolant side.

mine is rebuilt and still burns oil. check the valve guides while you have it apart. maybe do a leak down first so you can be sure to eliminate the oil burning. its a real pain to check oil at every refuel, as you know.

White/gray smoke that dispetate quickly is mosl likely antifreeze-water
Black smoke is usually fuel related too much fuel
Blue/gray is oil related

Just a55 backward from what most people would think

As long as you are not having to buy oil by the gallon it's good,if you dont have to use 90 or 110 gear you are good. I owned one of the first one. We used Ridder recycled oil. Real cheep. This was around 1968.

It a whitish gray smoke but it doesn't dissipate quickly, it lingers but only smokes bad when you hit the gas then its just a huge cloud all the sudden so I'm thinking its burning mostly coolent but also a little oil to. I also have a knock at higher rpms sounds more like a rattle but I'm hoping it's just a miss cause it runs fine at an idle

My old Nova did that years ago. It was the head gasket. Got stopped by a cop once for it. Looked like a mosquito fogger that the cities use around here. 8O

Luckalie I was pulling into the Chevy dealer. I told him that I was taking it there to get fixed.
