Finally got the truck to be a driveable A to B vehicle, and within the last few days its developed a sputtering issue when idling. Everything in ignition system is new with less than 100 miles on it, except for ignition points and coil resistor. Fuel pump is also new with less than 100 miles on it.

Today, coming to a stop, it started sputtering badly, backfired then it stalled and wouldn't start, had to tow it home.

I'm thinking it might be the stock carb? Any ideas?

EDIT: Truck was running fabulously without a single hiccup until a few days ago, I pulled the carburetor and cleaned it when it first started this issue, but made no difference. Also tried adjusting carb, and made no significant changes.

Could be a lot of things. Make sure you have a solid 12VDC at your coil. Have you replaced your fuel filter lately?

First lets nail it down to either fuel or ignition related. Check the site glass in the stock carb, fuel level should be half way in the window. If so then it's probably ignition related not carb. Check to see if the points have lost their proper gap. Could be a failing condensor, replace it. As above, check for 12 volts at the coil. Thats where I would start.
