Just picked up this 1973 Chev Luv, I am its second owner from new :D
It has the OHV G161 engine (not Gemini)
I already have An Isuzu Badged tub and Mikado steering wheel (having Isuzu badge made for it)
So hoping to turn it in to an Isuzu Faster :eugeek

Josh

Neat, it would be nice to see some pre-conversion photos of an Australian LUV. I imagine it is mostly stock? I wonder how similar they really are..

I'd love to have a right hand drive Chevy..something about that just sounds so strange. Can we even have those in California I wonder?

Are they particularly rare out there?

What else does a LUV-Faster conversion entail, besides the rebadging and steering wheel upgrade you mentioned?

The 72/73 is definatley Rarer than the 74-80 here, the main differences are the engine, G161 as to the later G161z (both different to the US models), the narrow front bumper and the Tail light are under the tray instead of either side of the tail gate.
The main thing in making it an Isuzu Faster was getting the Isuzu stamped tail gate, and the Faster badges on the Doors.
The Mikado steering wheel was never an option here, but I came across a Japanese brochure for the later vehicle (which was labeled a Rodeo here) was pictured with what was basically a Mikado wheel (and they Look better) so I thought why not.
The rest is definatley staying stock.

Thats about what I had imagined it would involve. We had skinny bumpers up here, through '75 at least.

Good to see another Aussie Luv.

Mine is a 74 but has the same engine combo as yours. Is yours a 4 speed column shift?
Mine also has skinny bumpers.

If you want to get rid of the badges let me know as my front badge has a broken mount.
