Now THAT would be a sweet setup. Keeping 4wd really limits my handling mods  corvette or supra irs setups seem to be popular in minitrucks. Drift sessions in the future?

Cut out the motor mounts today. Have been thinking about it since I put them in a wile back. Going to make a one piece mount instead of a three pieces welded together. For a cleaner look and stronger mount. I was never really happy with the ones I put in before. Sorry no pics of the mangled mess. I will post some when I get the new mounts though.

sweet deal dude what are you going to use for the new ones square steel tube?
I was also wondering what your plans are for the engine in the future are you planning to keep it mostly stock or have the housings ported, turbo/injector upgrades etc? im doubting it will need much more power than it already has but go big seems to be a common theme around the forum  and with IRS you would have a hell of a good time with a rotary powered luv 8)

The same design as what I took out, but a single piece instead of three pieces welded together. Mostly stock for now, unless I come into some money, but then again if I came into some money I would just drop the 20b 3 rotor in :). Once it's time to rebuild I think I'll go pp and single turbo.

Picked up the the new motor mounts today. Going to try and get them in this weekend. Way more happy with a single piece mount, they just look more sturdy. Really glad I decided to change them.
Will try and get some pictures up tomorrow.

man those look great! I cant wait to see this thing running and driving! one of these days when all these local builds are done we all need to get together for a meet. seems to have been talked about 10+ times but hasn't happened, maybe in spring

what are you planning for the interior?

Ya, a LUV meet would be cool.
Going to do some bucket seats, probably from a bronco II. I f I could get the ones from the RX8 for cheap I'll do that.
Redo the dash with hard foam and cloth wrap, redo the door panels to match.
Full carpet and headliner.
nice sound system, nothing overly outrageous, just quality sound and decent sound level. To go with that, I will also be sound deadening the entire cab interior, Floor, roof, firewall, back of cab (under the window), and inside the doors.
electric window conversion as well.
Ohh! and cup holders, HAVE! to have cup holders.

I'm sure that I am missing some thing, but you get the idea. ;)

Small update.
Added a small piece to the top of motor mount. For a little added strength and visual appeal. I have cleaned up the welds, filled some of the holes that appeared after removing the slag and smoke after this photo was taken. Also filled the larger holes next to the mounts.
Working on relocating the stut rods from the front of the lower control arm to the back side of it.

Before I plated the control arm to make a mounting point.

And after.

Image

Had some tubing bent at a local fab shop.
I cut it to length and fitment for my application.

Image

Tacked in place to check clearance to the frame.

Welded in place. Working on the brackets to mount it to the frame.

Thank you.
I've seen my welding skill increase as this project has gone on and have figured out the little quirks with this Eastwood welder.

Story of my life......Literally

I wish that they would sell 10 lb rolls plus 2ft of wire. Something labeled like this "10lbs+2ft" then you could buy the perfect amount every time!

I hate that.. Then you sit there thinking about it the rest of the day.

A little tip.. and its not that big of a deal.. If you were to slow the wire speed down just a fraction it would help with the tiny bit of splatter.
Nothing wrong with the welds.. They look great, Heat setting is just about perfect.
Looks like you're welding using the "push method". I prefer that method as well.

I use a 75/25 Argon/CO2 mix for MIG.. CFH @ 17-20
Once I get the heat right, I just fine tune the wire speed.
They (Your local Welding Supply) sell a spray called "Anti-splatter".. You can spray the area just before you weld and all the little splatter-balls fall right off.
Helps a lot. I use it in hard to reach area's that may be difficult to clean later.
Just something to try :)

The only way you get better at welding is seat time!
By the looks of it.. Your putting in some work.

Mike
