So I need the transmission housing from the stock 1981-85 diesel pups.
Unfortuntely, it's a little more complicated. Since you have a 4-speed transmission, the diesel bell housing just might not bolt up to your transmission. It bolts up to a gas 5-speed, but SOME of the 4-speeds are different. The only way to know is to look at the input bearing cover plate. If it has six bolts holding it on, the 5-speed diesel housing WILL bolt up. If it has only four bolts, the 5-speed diesel bell housing will NOT bolt up.

The following engines should bolt into my Gas 1979 4x4 Chevy Luv: (with possible oil pan clearance issues)
Isuzu IMark 1981 - 1985 (1.8L, 4 cyl), diesel (VIN P 8th digit)
Chevy Chevette 1985? (1.8L, diesel, VIN D)
Yes.

What are the years available for the Chevette? I think they are the same as the IMark.
I don't have a clue on that one, sorry.

Also I have seen some threads about making sure you pull the diesel Fuel regulator, pump?
No such thing. The only pump on the diesel is the injection pump, and it's bolted onto the motor. You'd have to remove the timing belt cover and timing belt just to pull it off.
