Hey guys, im new to these little trucks. I built a few s10s but never really took on a resto/older vehicle until now. Right now my plans are foggy just want to get it running again and enjoy it then decide where to go with it. Either way it will end up low with a more modern powerful engine.
Its a 1977 with (he says) 64,000 miles pretty much all original truck. The previous owner (im assuming) created a short possibly installing the new alternator and fried a wire in the harness and also melted part of the fuse block... An thats kind of where im at trying to fix the harness and fuse block .. I pulled the steering column to make some room and im gonna disconnect under the dash and pull it throught the firwall to repair... Im also trying to find a fuse block or considering using an aftermarket one any advice?
Heres some pics of the truck and the wires...
Heres is how i figured out what wire goes where lol
Heres the wires and fuse block
Note the one wire below that is completely missing its covering, it is melted all the way into under the dash.
It ran and drove before i got it home and started messing with the fuses but it would only run for like 10 seconds then shut off.. but would start right back up run for the same amount of time and die.. Seemed like it lost fuel and died.... so not sure whats going on there but after i messed with the wires it will no longer start nor will the dash lights come on like it did before.. So im gonna try and make everything right again and see if it will stay running.. Lots of headache in store for me lol
