Finally finished it today. With the Hooker Headers it was hard to get the flexplate out. I was able to pull the trans back as far as I could, pulled the torque converter out and then had enough room to turn the flexplate 90 degrees and out the bottom it came. For those of you that have Hooker Headers you know why I didn't want to pull them. No the bad part, the worn teeth on the flexplate was self induced. When I bought the Power Master high torque starter I pulled it out of the box and installed it. As I was re installing the starter I noticed the mounting block was loose from the starter it self. I pulled the starter completely out and noticed 2 Allen bolts on the face. After reading the instructions (glad I kept them, wished I read them first) this starter has adjustable clocking and they say to set it up and lock tight the bolts. I didn't do that the first time around and it came loose. I had a stock starter in there first that started to grind so I thought what I was hearing was a couple bad teeth from that. So after calling my self a dumb ass for a while I clocked it, lock tighted the bolts and re installed it. You can't even hear the starter now. Next was the alternator bracket install. The old one I had mounted on two header bolts, they kept coming loose so I bought a bracket that bolts to the head. The adjusting arm was too long so after cutting a half inch off of each side it went on. I am happy with the allignment of it now and no more miss aligned alternator due to the old set up.
Here is the old flex plate, it's hard to see but 3 teeth ground to nothing.
Here is the new alternator bracket.
