Well my flex plate is missing a tooth or two so its time to replace it. I hope I can just have a new drive replaced on my starter, there is a local place that still rebuilds starters around here so hoping they can or a new one at $250 or so will be in order. I also need to redo the alt mounting as well. I have the mount that bolts to the headers and it never really sat square. Last is a job I have been putting off too long, replace the fuel pump and run all new steel braded lines from the fuel cell to the regulator. Here she is in my garage ready to pull the transmission tomorrow after NASCAR.

Looking at this or something like it for the alt mount. We had a member here that had a stock mount like that from a early Chevy truck, I have looked high and low and can't find one.

Since you took those pictures with a toaster, I can't tell if you have the wide belt or not, but I HIGHLY recommend it if you don't.

It's a V belt, not sure what you mean by wide. Are you talking about a surp belt, if so I tried to fit one but ran out of room.

It's ready for my California members to pull the trans, any takers?

Gravity is usually helpful to getting the trans out. But, now that you have the truck flipped over, it's going to suck.

That's it mytmouz, thanks for the link. And Tilted, this is why I wanted the other members to do it, I know it's going to suck.

On a side note I didn't pull it yet due to my 6 month old Craftsman floor jack not holding anything up without falling down in seconds. The jack has a year warranty so I took it back to Sears. I was told I need to contact Craftsman about the issue, Sears has nothing to do with it after 90 days. I asked him when did Sears and Craftsman separate? He tells me he does not know but Craftsman will send me a shipping label to ship it to them, they will fix it and send it back. Basically they pay shipping on a 70 pound jack, repair it then send it back, now mind you the jack new is 99 dollars. What a joke. I told the return guy that I would take my broken jack with me to Home Depot and buy a new lawn mower and weed whacker there, I certainly was not going to drop $600 here with this great customer service. A manager over herd this and then offered to replace the jack right then. Still no one in Sears could tell me when Sears and Craftsman became a different warranty deal.

Pretty sure Stanley bought Craftsman. Probably happened then. I believe it is a good thing too, as judging by the revenue stream, and stock performance, Sears will soon be a part of history...

I was laughing about the comment about the upside down picture having to take out the tranny upwards.
What kind of jack was it? My craftsman low profile (the one that my SS slipped off of  ) was leaking pretty bad and I went to the Sears website and they were hundreds of pissed off people about the poor quality jack and no replacement parts available for them. I fixed mine with 2 50 cent o-rings. I work for Ace Hardware and we have been selling Craftsman for 2 years now, and K-Mart has been for a lot longer. They are a nightmare to deal with on warranty problems but I did get a free electric power washer due to an idiot that couldn't figure out how to run it and we wrote it off as a warranty claim. :ebiggrin
Here are all the wonderful reviews of the jack I bought

It was just a standard 3 ton jack.

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-ton-se ... ockType=G3

It says $89.99 here, at the store yesterday it was $99.99 yesterday and in December too.

I have one of these and i must say it has been a pretty good jack . I loaned it to a buddy and it still works , just not right . I need to look into it . I just ended up buying a new one . Ended up with a HF . Talked to several of the local hotrod shop guys and they had them and gave this particular model good reviews .

Good luck on your flywheel job .

Finally finished it today. With the Hooker Headers it was hard to get the flexplate out. I was able to pull the trans back as far as I could, pulled the torque converter out and then had enough room to turn the flexplate 90 degrees and out the bottom it came. For those of you that have Hooker Headers you know why I didn't want to pull them. No the bad part, the worn teeth on the flexplate was self induced. When I bought the Power Master high torque starter I pulled it out of the box and installed it. As I was re installing the starter I noticed the mounting block was loose from the starter it self. I pulled the starter completely out and noticed 2 Allen bolts on the face. After reading the instructions (glad I kept them, wished I read them first) this starter has adjustable clocking and they say to set it up and lock tight the bolts. I didn't do that the first time around and it came loose. I had a stock starter in there first that started to grind so I thought what I was hearing was a couple bad teeth from that. So after calling my self a dumb ass for a while I clocked it, lock tighted the bolts and re installed it. You can't even hear the starter now. Next was the alternator bracket install. The old one I had mounted on two header bolts, they kept coming loose so I bought a bracket that bolts to the head. The adjusting arm was too long so after cutting a half inch off of each side it went on. I am happy with the allignment of it now and no more miss aligned alternator due to the old set up.

Here is the old flex plate, it's hard to see but 3 teeth ground to nothing.

Here is the new alternator bracket.
