Does anyone know where to order a new one? Do I have to remove stearing column ? Stock '80 1.8 I've had it half way out and welded it but couldn't take completely out cause I didn't have time at that point. Any help is appreciated.

You won't find a new one. I have pulled them without removing the steering column.

I don't remember, it was back in 85 when I did it, but it did not take me that long.

I've heard it is one of the few vehicles with clutch pedals that fail. Often its one of the first items to go in a parts truck.
I have 3 LUVs that have had the pedal cluster replaced with ones that have been beefed up by welding a fillet around the weak area.
If I recall it does help to unbolt the steering column but it can stay in place.

Remove the gauge cluster and pull in through the hole. You guys now are lucky, back when I had to do it in the 80's we didnt have a little thing called the internet and I had to figure it out for myself (and I didnt do it that way). :(

I think I removed the pedals from the bracket then pulled the bracket. Again I think so, it was many years ago and I have slept since then.

Came out real easy, my parts truck was already picked clean. I took the guage cluster out and pulled it through there till I had enough clearance to drop it out underneath. The cluster is only 3 wingnuts, 2 on left 1 on right . You can get some freeplay in the speedo by unclipping it in the engine bay. I know others will have this problem and this is by far the easiest way of doing it. Thanks for your help guys now to clean it up and weld the shit out of it Hahaha.

Yep, through the gauge cluster is the way to go. Even if you don't pull the bracket through there, you need the gauges out of the way to get everything else loose from the top of it. I think getting the wiring bundle out of the way was really the worst part of it. I think you can just pull the shaft leading into the brake master cylinder out. I can't think of any other tricks not already mentioned here. Oh, except of course if your clutch pedal starts to feel flimsy like it is bending out to the left you better not wait to fix it. Mine was wobbly for about a week or two before it just came off.

I had to pull mine while on a vacation 150 miles from home in a nice resort parking lot. Nothing but my brain to figure out how it came out. Luckily some family in the area had access to a welder. I had plenty of spare parts at home, but wasn't looking forward to driving 150 miles of mountainous road with only two pedals.
