I have all of the nuts off of the intake, hoses loose, carb removed. I can't see underneath the manifold I can't feel anything under there either. I got it to wiggle but it won't come off of there. Anybody ran across this before?
Thanks

If I recall correctly there are two nuts per cylinder. If you are sure you got all of them, then the only other thing attached is the metal tube from the EGR valve that goes around behind the engine to the exhaust manifold. It doesn't flex much so could be the thing you are running into. There are also heater and bypass rubber hoses underneath there but you can move them quite a bit if they are still attached.

Also check to see if one or more of the mounting studs are bent.

My money is on the EGR. Not fun to get that sucker loose. There is almost no room to get a wrench on the intake side of the pipe, and the exhaust side is almost always seized solid into the manifold. I once pulled both manifolds as a set to get just the intake loose because it was easier than getting the EGR pipe loose. Plus I didn't have a gasket to replace on the EGR valve and didn't want to risk it leaking with the old gasket.

I believe that the starter might possibly be in the way. I had to unbolt the starter in order to get my intake to line up with the mounting studs when putting it back on.

thanks for all of the help. I pulled the starter and made sure that the egr pipe was free checked for bent studs with a mirror. I finally just pryed it off after making double sure that I wasn't gonna break anything. I think i was just scared that I was going to break the manifold. Thanks again for the help, I think it was a little of all of the above.
