Yeah and what kind of mods did you need to make? Did your stock transfer case bolt right up to the trans or did you take that off the Trooper too? I'd appreciate it if you could post any details about the swap. Thanks!

Maybbe it be easer just for people to post questions. I acutally hired a mecanic to do mods on the frame. I can answer stuff about parts though.
I used the transfer case that came with the trooper. The 4wd shaft is long enouggh so ti works well. When I had both tranny side by side, they looked very similar. the trooper tranny is just a little longer.

As far as effect on driving. It kicked butt on the freeway. I acutally took it up to 80mph. Though my trucks engine is getting tired. It does not like to go up steep hills. I think theres less climing abilit with the trooper tranny, but for the road it makes big differnse

One of these day's I'll finish the conversion that's been in my garage for 3 months...

I'm putting the 1.9L G200 in front of the 5-spd trooper tranny with a Pacesetter header, Offenhauser intake and a Weber DGEV 32/36 carb. I've even got the electronic ignition to go with it all...

the g200 engine was also in '82-85 s10s i believe. it's the 1.9 so it might not be that easy to find, but i'm sure you're more likely to find an s10 with it in it than have to search around for an impulse or a 2nd gen luv
