Been awhile since i updated this . Been fighting an oil leak that i couldn't find in forever . So i tore it down . Turns out it was a torn chunk of gasket in the passengerside rear corner of the head , block and intake . Added a new distributor gasket . Also replaced the header gaskets as i cooked them trying to keep up with street legal warrior times . I had David Cook rebuild a carb i bought from a member here . It was due . Both pumps were bad and one main body bolt hole was stripped out . David does good work and it bolted on and fired right up . I didnt even set the idle screws . Also added tubes to the slicks to help with consistant tire pressure . On top of that o got it certed to 8.50 . Next project coilovers and double adjustable rear shocks .

Nice build! I still don't understand what an original LUV stepside looks like...

There were 3 styles of stepside beds. All are 'original'...

Remember these trucks cam from Japan without beds. There are the stock fleet side beds, then there were around three different mfgr's of step side beds. Depends on what dealer had what deal on the stepsides.

The "Factory" step sides had the step moulded into them. The California Step Side and the Anderson (Atlanta Georgia I think) step sides had metal steps. CSS used full size Chevy truck step sides as the base for thier kits. Anderson used Ford step side fenders as thier base.
As stated all of the minitrucks were shipped in without beds, cheaper shipping. Beds regular and step were make and installed here in the USA. Nu Car prep here in So. Cal.

Beds were installed at the dealers so they are assembled in america .

I got the Leafs and caltracs installed with ball bearing sliders after bending another set of springs . I have been working to get everything lined out and i am now 2nd in points . I need to win one to be track champion , but we got 3 races left this year .

If you end up in Pomona you will have a pit crew. I am about an hour or so away. Ben and Rondog are not far away too.

Had a good time in Ennis , Texas for the bracket finals . Got there thursday and dropped the trailer . Checked into the hotel around 3:00ppm had everything unloaded and ready to test and tune by 6 pm . First pass i got a bit over zelous and wrung it out in the burnout box filling the top of the motor with oil . Oil light flickered at me after the burnout and sure enough , valve cover leak . Tightened the cover and made 2 good hits Was 6 numbers apart from 7 to 10pm . Truck was running good . Locked camp down and headed out .

First thing friday morning , oil down passenger side of motor . sent wife into town for parts and got it fixed . 1 tt and then gamblers race . truck was still good . driver , not so good . Numbers still in line but i went red first pass right lane . I just flat out left on the second amber . Cold front came through about 10 pm . Temp dropped like 40 degrees in an hour .

Saturday was sceduled to be 1 time trial and then first round of elems . 54 degree track . Time trial was a wild ride .015 in the right lane as it rotated right in the wheelie . I pulled 2nd and brought it down and drug it back leeft into the groove missing the wall by a foot or less . it spun til i made 2/3 shift and left rubber til 120' . fastest pass of the weekend @6.971 . Went red by a touch right lane again 1st round . Then the rain came .

Started out sunday , no time trial put a 6.97 on it and hada decent light in the left lane drove it down with clean numbers and whopped it once rn a 6.99 and broke the other guy out . Round 2 . went red and ran it out 6.984 on a 6.98 . Had a blast . sorry for the novel write up .

Nice Job, I have been to bracket finals 6 years in a row (minus this year) and can't seem to make it past 1st round...

I should be running next year in the points with my Luv.
