my sisters cavalier looked worse then that when we pulled the head/valvetrain/oil pan off ... but she hadn't changed the oil in over 20K miles.
Scraped and pressure washed what we could and then ran half a liter of kerocene with 100 mile oil changes till it cleared up what was left in the block...
ouch
20k with no oil change im amazed it was even running at that point
pulling the heads tonight didnt get to yesterday. praying that the bores are in at least decent condition... not holding out hope for the bearings tho
going to need a flexplate. noticed mine is warped a bit.. not real bad but im not going to re-use it
im going to hit the heads and intake with a solvent washer full of diesel and see how they come out. the block will probably get sprayed with some as well, and get a good pressure wash afterward.
once i check my tolerances and make sure i don't need any machine work done i will grab a re ring kit with bearings and gaskets, new oil pump and water pump and should be about ready to drop it in once i get myself a B&M shifter for the 700r4.
so i need to figure out the auto trans as well.. am i going to need to hunt down a throttle cable for the trans or can i run it without?
im thinking about just ponying up the cash to buy the edelbrock 4barrel aluminum intake for it and a set of used 96+ vortec heads to up the flow by a lot.. with the intake, vortec heads, headers, cam etc a lot of people are seeing north of 300hp and up to 400. i would be content with 250-300. i dont think the luv needs anything more as a daily driver
