i have a question. in 1981 did they make two diff. bodys like the luv and s10. theres a guy selling a 81' longbed diesle what style body would that be?

99% of the time Id assume s10 body style.

They did in 82, the S10's first year and the Luvs last.
And to answer your question, it is the body style of the isuzu pup.

ya but i was wondering if in 1981 they kept the orig body style of the luv or did they use the new one? like was it a split year where they made half with the rolled bed and half with the straight up bed like the s10?

No, I don't think so. 81 LUV's were the first year of the newer, square-er body style, like the blue on in the pic above. And 82 was the first S-10 year. So in 81 only the one, new style LUV was sold.
Now, there could have been some of the older body style ('80) LUV's at dealerships that had not sold until '81. But that just means it is an '80, sold new in '81.

My F250 is a '97, but I bought it brand new from the dealership in Aug. '98.

My guess if someone is calling an '80 an '81 then either someone messed up the title or they are thinking like more modern model years. Like a 2012 is made and could be had in 2011. I would say with the LUV the year to go by would be what the sticker on the door says, as long as it is the original. I believe one of the VIN characters tells the year also. Who knows how late into '80 they made the '80 model? I know my '80 must have been closer to the end of the 1st generation run because the door sticker is later in '80 like August or September, maybe even later, I forget right now. I seriously doubt the '81 model was ever out in later '80. I wonder who has the earliest '81 date on their door sticker?
