You had a 400 in it before ?

sbc 400 but a th350 trans.

Thanks , hoping the th400 will fit .

Quick update . I got the factory oil light working and the factory temp gauge working with a Ford sender . A 76' F250 FE engine ( 331/352/360/390/406 ) to be exact . I did a search and came up with my own threads . Also working on the charging system Swapping to a CS130 alt . and a 3 wire set up with big charge wire , battary volt sensing line and lamp with resister to excite the alt . Last gauge i have to get working is the fuel gauge .

I somehow ordered the wrong alternator bracket and had to send it back for credit towards the correct one . The 400 is in the trans shop getting a freshen up , Shopping for a shifter now , Bought another set of drag stars with bias ply Mickey Thompsons so i can run these with slicks .

Pulling parts together for a 31 spline posi/detroit 3.60 rear center section . With a 2.48 1st 3.60 works out close . The formula calls for 3.42 . The 5.00 would be great 1/8th mile with a 1.76 glide ,, but to steep for the 3 speed .

Working on measurements to have the spring eye bushings built . Moving the MSD box into the glove box . Getting pretty close though .

Is this going to be a street truck? I also ran all of my stock gauges and idiot lights. My friends say I should have a full set of gauges, I say its just a street truck, if it blows a engine I doubt the gauges would have saved it.

Well i got it fired up awhile back and actually drove it today . Small steering wheel has to go for Factory Mikado . Brakes need power bleed with synthetic fliud . I for the life of me cannot figure out how this thing doesnt flip over backward with a 5.00 and a 2.52 . Drag radials dont have a chance .

It leaves hard , but im old and slow , so i was late on 1-2 shift twice and banged the rev limiter . I dont have too many of those before i slam a ring land . Need a shift light , throttle linkage , fuel cell , residule valves on the brakes and a few other things .

Update . I ran the truck last night in a new class called street legal warrior . Basically stock suspension , full interier , all glass , tag , inspection , insurance , winner and runner up must make a 20 mile cruise after race to get checks and if they dont they are disquilified . I was basically testing and tuning making my first passes in 2 years and first passes on the truck during qualifying . I really needed another week , but this was the last race of the season so i said WTH and went for it . They allowed 2 exception to the rules and i was way over that , but for car count they let me in . I went 7.23 on motor first pass spinning , 21# in tires (drag radials) and the throttle wasnt opening all the way . Pass 2 went better at 6.73 with 600 # bottle pressure and crazy rich . 3rd pass was better and 1st round of elms . Went a doggy 1.57 60' and tree'd the guy . At 300' the throttle cable popped off and i was trailer bound . All in all i had fun and have a list of things to work on . They are gonna hate me in Feb .

All in all , If i had this motor in my blue truck i would have owned this race . That thing would run 6.20's all day long in 100 degree heat with a 355 . I will figure this one out in time . Here is a vidio of the guy who won ,, but im in it for a few . You can hear the cable pop off .

Thats awesome man. Good runs for the first time out. That sounds like a fun class. Do they limit your nitrous? Doesn't sound like a brake?

No limit on spray and its heads up which brings spectators . The class will probably get too fast or me sometime next year and i'll go to bracket racing .

I didn't have time to get the 400 in so i was footbrakeing the th350 . I tree'd him and had him covered at 60' .

Sounds fun...heads up is fun but its all about deep pockets..

we had a similar class but was OEM Street. It was just that.. had to be regular production engine stamped parts (no strokers or bowtie stuff),vacuum limit, full interior, stock suspension, all glass, no brake, only can use a 63 pill. Guy went 6.17 in a vortec headed sbc in a 3100lb car. crazy..........
