Is it essential to plug the EGR oriface before installing the carb? What is the recommended material? Does it matter which way the adapter place faces (45 degree corners on one side)?

We should really start a FAQ for the Weber carb install if it doesn't already exist. Here's what I figured out and some other random stuff that would have helped me with my install. Mine was a Redline kit purchased on ebay.

Yes, you remove the plastic spacer in between carb and intake.
Yes, I plugged the EGR inside the intake manifold using Quicksteel.
I installed the adapter plates with the beveled edges facing away from the engine.
You should cut the lowest gasket around the vacuum line that is closest to hitting the plate to make the hose go on easier.
I removed the idle adjust tab from the stock throttle cable plate by cutting the rivets and removing for clearance on the new carb.
The air cleaner clips need to be trimmed on the lower part on the firewall side to fit good.
I plugged my fuel return line and it seems to work fine.
I'm using my stock fuel pump with no problems so far. (no pressure regulator)

And finally, WOW what a HUGE difference the Weber carb makes! No more stuttering rough idle. Purrs like a kitten. Has tons more power when you stomp the gas pedal. Highly recommended upgrade! Easily the best money I've spent on this truck. Hope this helps someone in the future.
