Hopefully next weekend I will start swapping an Lt1 into my LUV. The only thing I'm going to HAVE to pay for is to have the drive shaft shortened and swapped to the LUV U-Joint (yes I'll be using the stock rear end, but only until I get a few things for the 12 bolt I have). So far I'm looking at a pretty straight forward swap, the biggest problem being running the wires for the ecu. And I have just about everything I need to do the swap minus a starter LOL.

Other than that what are any major problems I will run into?

I know the exhaust will be fun of course and the firewall but since it's EFI I won't have the distributor to worry about so there won't be much I'll have to do the firewall, but is there anything else I'll really need to look into?

You dont have to touch the firewall and can still leave the core support in tact as well

I didn't figure I'd have to do anything to the firewall. Well the only thing I'll have to get then will be a set of headers or stock 350 manifolds since the Lt1 manifolds have the cat attached directly to the driver side manifold and I'm pretty sure it'll hit the frame. I'll have to double check. Other than that all I'll have to do is make mod the radiator support to hold the Lt1 radiator because I would like to keep it plus then I don't have to buy another one.

So I guess this weekend the fun begins!

Well I got started a little early this week. I've started to take out unnecessary stuff in the engine bay and will hopefully be painting it soon. I will get pics but I couldn't find the camera. The only problem I'm going to have is I will either have to take all the accessories off of the Lt1 or take the front end off of the LUV to actually get it in there because it won't let me lower it due to it being about an inch too long.

I also might be able to get a LUV that has already been set up for the strip. It has been tubbed, has a full roll cage, has a nice 4 wheel disk brake setup, along with a narrowed rearend although I don't remember if it is a Ford 9" or just a 12 bolt.

If all works out I'll be able to get it for pretty cheap (it's a friend of my dad's). It used to have a 454 in it but he decided to put it in something else. He has built many SBC LUVs and BBC LUVs. It's kinda his hobby.

Well I didn't get much done but soon enough there will be a LUV motor, 4x4 trans, front axle, rear end and drive shaft for sale.

Well I might be going yet another direction with my LUV. It'll still be with the Lt1 or at least a 350 but the suspension will be completely different, well the whole frame will be swapped.

I know I have had numerous ideas for my LUV but I will find the right one and hopefully this is it.

I plan on swapping the LUV body onto a 1965 Chevy C10 short bed frame I have. The wheel base of the C10 is 13 inches longer so I will either have to find a long bed LUV and get the bed off of it or build a custom bed of my own. This way I don't have to mess with the hassle of putting the Lt1 on the stock LUV frame and then also putting p/s on it.

Also I will have NUMEROUS suspension upgrades. Since the front hubs of the C10 are wider than the LUV's overall width I'll have to get rims with I believe a negative offset? That is the rims where the tire sits completely inside the fender well.

The only major work I'll have to do is putting a different brake booster and steering column in the LUV.
