after having my luv sit for the past year i'm starting to clean her up and put her back together.
last week i gutted the interior. clean now but i'm getting ready to sand and paint. i gained 10 bucks in quarters from under the carpet

yesterday i went to the junkyard and there was a pretty clean luv there. barely any rust anywhere. it had no reason being in the junkyard. it was towed of a army base out here about a week ago. i think the guy shipped to iraq and left the luv sitting there. it's been recently primered and sanded. it actually looks like he was getting ready to paint it.
everything's there and in great shape. i went down this morning and grabbed the driver's door and fender, a couple heater hoses, fuse box cover and some tail light trim for john. i plan on going back tomorrow and yanking some more stuff.

now, i'm very happy. i don't need anything else to finish the truck :D :D
all the parts i need i now have. it's like having a giant puzzle thats taken 3 years. from finding a new rear sliding window, new front chrome bumper, new motor mounts, new chrome grill, down to new tailgate handles.

when it comes to the motor i plan on yanking the motor and doing a complete rebuild with header, weber carb, and electronic points. it'll probably get pulled in the next 3 weeks. i've been looking around for the past couple weeks for a turbo but i'm having no luck. if i do find one it'll go on too.

tonight the door is getting put on. i'm waiting a couple days to putting on the fender. it has a little rust on the bottom i'm going to take care of.
once the fender is on i'm going to get the dents out of the bed and get ready to sand.

my set month to be finished is late april of next year. i want to take my time on the motor so everythings perfect. for now i'm staying with something stock so i can keep my 4 wheel drive. probably sometime down the road i'll go a little bigger with the motor.

i'll keep you guys posted with pictures :D

i need the driver's fender. i'll look around.
now your talking about the chrome piece that goes around the headlight, driver side. i pulled it off the truck i got the fender off. it was in great shape. i was buying enough toys so i left it there. if ya want it tell me so i can get back there soon. hopefully it's still there. left one was there too but has a big gash in the chrome.

now i snapped a picture of the inside. my floors look rusty but are still strong. it seems like the rust only got the paint.

would my floors be ok if i put some of that spray rust enamal on it ??????

if you use this spray on stuff called rustoleum it will protect every thing from rust and it comes in multiple colors.

check your windshield gasket too.. thats probably where all the moisture came from that caused the rust.

Good junkyard find. Yeah, check the windshield gasket. The first rain after I bought my luv, the truck was kinda parked faced down hill. The lowest point was the passenger side front corner. Somehow, the passenger floorboard was about 2 inches deep in water. I just drilled a drain hole and covered the truck with a tarp. It turned out the window seal was shot.

Antena hole is another spot for water to get in. My major spot problem was the baseball size rust holes in the rocker panels though! Always got wet feet when driving in a rainstorm.

Good junkyard find.

no junkyard find.
for some reason i have 2 holes for a intenna, one on each fender. i'm guessing thats one of the problem. i'm don't think the front window leaks. the back one does.
whenever it snowed, i always had a pool in my floorboards. i just got lucky the rust didn't go all the way through.
