I use it several times during a flight, and when you fly on a airliner you better hope the guy in the front does too.

true. not to downplay anyone's profession, (and i must stress this so as to not start a flame war...) but take the average joe working a service industry job, how many times will i use algebra to sell a set of brake pads, you know? for all i know, i may be using it myself and not even realize it. now MATH, ARITHMETIC, NUMBER CRUNCHING, etc etc, ... YES we ALL use it everyday. :ewink

Perhaps i should rephrase my last statement.

Algebra : My 7th grade teacher always said it was important, but damned if I ever actually use it....

They say that the 'national average' gas price will top $5.00 a gallon this summer. I don't think so; unless Lybia implodes. Any bets? :signnoway

Since I drive a huge Tundra, I am very fortunate to work only three days a week = swing shift. :D

I didn't mean to cause a debate over the uses of ALgebra...I will still use some of it as I have for years....using PI (3.14) for circumferential issues in the shop, my professor explained to me how to use it to take a section out of a Circle or drum and a few other things with it, equations for velocity, time, and distance are actually pretty simple and good to know...now I don't see myself using TRINOMIALS, POLYNOMIALS, QUADRATIC equations and on. ALGEBRA definitely has it's place. I struggled with it and am glad I don't have to Advance any farther with it.

Just brought 2 more Greyhounds home to house of for 2 days. That makes 7 dogs in the house. This is a bit much.

Yeah, it gets out of hand easily ... our record was 10 rabbits and 3 cats at one time. Not all the rabbits were in the house though. We still have 3 cats and 2 rabbits who all live inside. But you still win because I can't fathom 1 dog, much less multiple dogs....

8.9 Earthquake and tsunami in Japan. 8O Our local beaches are closed with tsunami warnings now. I think they are over reacting, but I guess better safe then sorry.
I have a friend I grew up with that lives in Japan. He was able to post on Facebook a few hours afterward, that he, and his wife & kids, are pretty freaked out, but OK.
