I have a1980 Luv Mikado 4x2 with auto and air. It has been parked the past 15 months due to carb and lack of money issues. I have had it up for sale on three forums including this one with no luck. My wife and I were talking about taking some our tax refund and putting it back on the road. Already has an MSD box and blaster 2 coil. Needs a weber 32/36 and a pacesetter header and a few other things, about $600-$700. The body, tires and int are all in good shape. I have put a lot of parts and work into this truck.
With those additions listed above, what kind of gas milage can I expect? I know it will be better than the Suburban I am driving now or should I try to get something better on gas? Gas is running $3 a gallon in my area now with talk of $4 a gallon gas in the near future. At $3 a gallon I can no longer afford to fill up a Suburban with a 35 gallon tank that gets 15mpg and use it as a daily driver.
Thanks in advance for all replies.

With those improvements, you may do better than the 20-25 I have always gotten. When my truck was new, I had a Valiant that never saw over 17 on a trip. I now have a Cavalier about the same size and as good of performance that gets twice that. You aren't going to find much of a truck that is going to get much better millage. I am afraid we may have seen the last of the under $3 gasoline. I don't see anything happening in Washington to help, and who knows what those crazies in the middle east are going to do.

My LUV has served me well as a daily driver for somebody that occasionally needs to haul a little.

Sounds like you won't have to invest too much to get it running. Though if I were you, if it was setting that long, I'd change all the fluids, and make sure the brakes still work.
Depending on your commute, you could convert your tranny to a 5 speed out of Isuzu pup. The most expensive thing would be to have the drive shaft shortened. You can do a serach, there are seveal posts about 5 speed swap.

I have a G200 in mine with the upgrades that you have already mentioned and I get 33 mpg on the highway and 25+ mpg in town.

Don't forget the Offy intake among those upgrades if you decide to keep it! :)
