My blinkers worked great, the next day, nothing works. It can't be the bulb, at least I hope not, because they both went out at the same time. When I turn on the left or the right, no indicator lights, and the bulbs don't flash on the front or the back of the truck. However, when I put on the emergency flashers, both indicators on the dash light up, and all signals go, front and back.

What the heck can cause this to happen? I'm tired of switching lanes with the emergency lights! I'm gonna get pulled over! haha. I checked the fuses, everything is fine there, I'm not sure where else to check.

Thanks!

LUV's have a weak link in the electrical system, the fusebox. The terminals the wires connect are riveted to the fuse holders. A little age and corrosion, and you get electrical intermittents. I solved mine by taking it apart and soldering the joints. Others have cleaned it with lemon juice, and others a new fuse box. The blinker power could be getting lost in the fuse box.

there are also TWO flasher "relays" in our trucks. One for emergency, one for regular turn signals.

take a good look by the toebox(where the pedals are) and look for the two silver(at least they are usually silver) round cylinders and switch them if it works, then replace the bad one.

i bought mine from napa a while back. think i paid like 5 bucks for it.

2 years later, thank you for this! I always wondered what those things were, I'm tearing into my truck tomorrow to fix it again and will check to see if this is the problem.

if you get down by the pedals and look straight up they are 2 silver cylinders one with a black plug and one with a white plug, close to the stering column, they probably fried with the stereo and the other wiring

I fixed the blinkers. My front left is out, but I'm assuming the light just burnt out. The other 3 work perfectly. I had 3 of those cylinders. Uploading a pic now. I just swapped one of them and it ended up being the blinkers.

i swapped the black one to the middle and voila, worked.I can't figure out what the middle one is for, and if there was ever a 3rd cable connected somewhere. Maybe one of them powers my back up lights? Because those haven't worked for years. lol
