i thought my motor was complete junk so i didnt set any timing marks anywhere, and i didnt look at where the timing marks where when i removed the head. turns out i have a huge chunk missing from the head gasket, and a small "fixable" dimple on the head. can someone send me a link that has pictures of where the timing marks are supposed to be . spending too much money to mess this up! i have the stock g180 and it's a 79.

From my 77 shop manual:

4 Check that the mark on the #1 rocker arm shaft is in alignment with the mark on the camshaft and that the crankshaft is pulley groove is aligned with the TDC mark.

5 Assemble the timing sprocket to camshaft by aligning it with the pin on the camshaft; use care not to remove the chain from the sprocket.

6 install the sprocket retaining bolt and washer....

It also suggests marking the position of the distributor housing before removing the camshaft.
