What would you do? I am having some issues at work and would like to find a different job but not sure what to do???? I have been at this job for almost 14 years, there are only 6 other guys who have been there longer. They got a few younger guys there who think their sh!t don't stink and they kiss the boss's a$$ and can do whatever they want. I leave for work the same time the wife and daughter leave and get home about the same time they do. Work is only a mile from home (that is the main reason I am still there), so did doesn't take long to get there and I can come home for lunch. If I get another job I would probably have to drive at least 20 miles and more than likely take a pay cut. The company I work for is opening up another store about 40 miles away and I have heard that there may be a few techs moving to that store, but the problem there is that only one of the idiots will be going. The store hired a new service manage 2 1/2 years ago and we were having problems with him ever since. So last spring they made one of the techs (a good guy) the shop foreman and I became lead tech of the combine shop. Well a couple weeks ago they finally got rid of the service manager. But they put one of the young punks in the chair and since they did that, they restructured and I got demoted. So I am not sure what to do. I am open to any ideas. Sorry this is so long winded, I just needed to vent a little. Thanks guys.

One other thing, if I quit and find another job for less money I will have to put racing on hold for a while.

As much as it may not be what you want, I would stay with the job that you have. It is the right hours for your family, and is very close to home.
Time can change most anything... including the feelings that you have right now. Continue taking the high road and people will notice.

Thanks guys. I am going to ride the storm out for awhile and see what happens. There may be some changes after the first of the year, so will see what happens. For the last couple years I have even thought about starting up my own business but am a little scared too. I know there are some customers equipment I could work on but not sure how much would keep me busy. Thanks again for the input.

Self employment can be rewarding but it will also likely consume your life with all the extra work that comes with it such as taxes, billing, etc. I think it ages you faster. LOL!

Sometimes I want to go back to a "simple" job where I just show up every day and clock in and out, do my job and leave.

Other times I think I would never go back no matter what a company offered me.

It depends on what kind of week we've had. :)

My opinion will be jaded because I was president business manager for the local union here for twelve years. I think if a company is treating you unfairly you should try orgainizing. If that won't set right with you , you can always sic the government on them. Try looking at eeoc.com they deal with discrimination. Also they will keep your complaint secret. No use taking a pay cut and having to drive more.

Twenty years ago ten years ago five years ago I would tell them to go f#ck themselves if it was me. Today I might still, but more than likely I would ride it out now...what comes around goes around. I got a two and a half year old kid now. Let it slide there are more important things.
