 1980...Been looking for days with no luck. Im not an electrical genius and I know the fuel pump can be on it's own switch, (Direct), but I don't know what to do with the five wires Where the relay was/is, Cap them? Or can some one tell me what amp (30?)5 tab relay to wire in.
Thanks Reddawg

Best not to rig stuff or duplicate posts. You should have hot in, coil ground, out to the fuel pump, and hot from the voltage regulator when the alternator is working. Even if you have put in a different alternator, most of them have a terminal meant for for the dash light. If the hot wire comes from the ignition circuit, you can connect it directly to the wire to the fuel pump. Not the brightest move. That relay is there for a purpose.

Agreed, So that means wire a modern 5 tab relay in place of the old one. The old relay they don't make any more. I tested the relay and it is bad. Is a 30amp Relay proper? My old relay has nothing on it (part #s are faded).

30 amp is way high, but won't hurt. When I was having some problems, I wired in an inline 10 amp fuse and it never blew. 4 wires is all you need, hot from the VR to the coil, coil ground and a pair of NOC contacts connected to the hot wire and fuel pump. If the relay has an NCC contact too, don't use it. Just connect to the COM and NOC.

Just answered your other post but see it is being answered here, so I am deleting that one and moving this one to that section.
