I read your thread over on pirate, dude do it!!!!! stick the 'burb axles, engine, tranny into and onto the Luv. The Luv frame is fully boxed and is more than strong enough to handle the full size axles. Good luck and keep us posted.

Sounds like a good project. I wouldn't worry about the frame. The dude who said he's seen 3 of them cracked probably didn't know what he was talking about. I've seen a few with cross members missing so it's a possibility but stock frames...I wouldn't bet on it.

Welcome to the site BTW.

This project is still going to happen. I am in the process of building a 24'x40' workshop, so that takes some time. I will be taking the engine and trans out and they will be for sale soon. The front disc assembly and the rearend will also be for sale after the shop is done.(I want to keep it a "roller")

Thanks for the update, I had kind of wondered what happened with your project. Keep after it, good projects always seem like a greased pig to me, just when you think you're getting a handle on it something happens and it slips out of control. :)

That's definitely a good thing! Just bring in the pink slip, bill of sale, or claim a lost pink slip. It's pretty easy. Being out of the books at the DMV is a good thing.

Wait, your 4x4 thread says it's a 76. Big difference in CA, you can't get around inspections on a 76.

Got the registration done ...
So the plan is:
Remove the bed for now - parts of it to be reused.
Remove the front sheet metal back to the firewall.
Lift the body 4".
Remove the engine/trans/shaft.
Remove all wiring, hoses, linkage, basicly strip it.
To be a roller until the V8-700R4-208TC is mounted.
(208 is temp, will be 205/203 doubler)
And start a build thread ...

Glad you stopped by. After you left I checked the alt as you said it was flexing when I hit the gas. Sure enough it was, the header bolts backed out causing the alt bracket to loosen up. All better now.
