not the large main seal for the housing, just where the yoke meets the actuall differential.

Are you talking about Pinion Oil Seal. You need to take the yoke off to replace it, and never reuse the old nut, you need to get a new nut and it has to be torque down checked with a inch pound torque wrench, not a foot pound torque wrench to get proper preload. Hope this link helps a little- http://www2.dana.com/pdf/AXSM-8663.PDF

Actually you can re-use the nut IF you go about it correctly: the nut has been staked to the threads to keep it from backing off, so you need to run a tap through the nut to clean the dent out of the threads, then also run a die over the pinion shaft threads to clean them up, afterwards the torque is not effected by the deformed threads.
I have had good luck torquing the nut to 100 ft-lbs with the p-brake on, wheels chocked, this seems to get it tight enough without getting it too tight and collapsing the crush sleeve too far. I like to use a little thread locker and be sure to stake the nut threads to the shaft.
Timken # 474133 for the seal.
