hey guys,

i dont know why im doing this, but i would like to have my california trip route plotted out here in case of ....well, whatever.

(i guess to make my wife feel better)

so this is it. some adjustments may be made, but this is the general idea

Bangerter hwy - S to Redwood Rd

Redwood rd is UT-68 S to US-6 west then south past Homansville, past Eureka, past UT-36/ SR-67, past Jericho, past Champlin, and into Lynndyl towards Delta.

Fuel in Delta, and continue via US-6 (turns into US-50)
Headed south on SR-257 from delta, i'll pass Clear Lake, Neels, Bloom, Black Rock, Read, and will come into Milford.

rd turns into SR-129 to Minersville. head east to UT-21 and make right on center st in Minersville ( UT-130)

UT-130 joins I-15 just south of Enoch. (in case you are wondering, im taking the back highways to this point to save on gas and not get killed on the sections of the 15 where the limit was raised to 80mph)

from Cedar city, i will refuel and take the 15 to vegas and into california. Once in california, (im on home stretch) i know my way around there.

I'll be returning the same way.

BTW, in the event something does happen, i do have roadside, and i'll be keeping my wife informed.

Oh and she told me to tell you guys "thanks for helping me feel better about all this"

(i'll have her make you all her famous oatmeal cookies)

-john

yeah, unfortunately.

my buddy's work schedule is changing, and wont be able to go with me. i figured since things are kind of slow at work right now, i might as well get over there and get this done...

i have purchased rondog's 79 luv, and im going to put my engine into it and fix it up. then i will drive it back up here. i've been posting about it in the stock trucks forum, and have listed many times that any one who wants/needs parts from my 80 tell me before i leave california.

check these two threads out.

well, i got here safe last night, and with limited problems. Truck ran AWESOME the entire time and the only problem i had was a loose wiper blade

Best of all, i checked the fuel log, and with myself and almost 300 lbs of equipment and tools for a total of 540 lbs, i got just about 28.x miles to the gallon! 8O SWEET!!!

ok, time to sleep some more. ron's not expecting me till 9 or so, and im still tired....

Well he now has both trucks in one driveway and is currently making one good 4X4 out of the two. And I have some room on my side yard again. 8)

yes indeed! and a big thanks to you ron! im hoping to have it done by tuesday.

got the bed off, and the fuel tank out and drained on my truck. rear wiring harness is off, but is going to have to be rewired with new wire.

it'll be nice to know i dont have to worry about any electrical demons lurking about!

well, so far.

took us a while to get some of the bolts off the bed. so we just decided to snap them and replace them later

the rear wiring was a litle trickier. the tail light connection plugs were rusted together. managed to break one box, but the passenger side was just cut. it wasnt going to give. I guess that's what 30 years of rust will do eh?

im hoping to get the floor pan from my truck transferred into the new truck since it's rusted out. engine i will do last as a failsafe in case i need to return to utah defeated.

Oh yeah, turns out ron had a 4wd pan all along! he didnt really think about it, but it's ok. I guess i now have an extra in case i ever crack mine.

ill make sure to take lots of pictures!

It's less work than taking one down to the frame and starting from scratch.

Oh! Hey Jon, I never got to the rear diff on that thing. You need to check the oil in it.
