i recently got gave a 4.3 v6 vortech and the guy told me he thought it was a 96 is their any way i can foind out for sure??..any help won htis would be greatly apprecieated..

the casting numbers should be on the back of the drivers side on the block. right along the bellhousing area. if you get the numbers I can check them in my power source manual.

those are all the numbers on tha back of it not sure which one you needed so i pulled all of them

that is definitly a 96-98 block.

Thes are generally good blocks, they hold up fairly well but the cranks and cams are a slight issue. I can almost gauantee when you tear it down to have atleast 1 failing rod bearing. usually towards the front, on cylinder 2.

As long as you keep this engine within itself..... no mixing and matching from other engines.. it should be a fairly straight forward rebuild.

yeah the only thing imma do is rebuild it bore it .30 and put a mild cam in it and swap it to a edelbrock 600..nothing serious..and thanx again for the help on the engine numbers
