Hi everybody, im new to this site and to the chevy luv. from what i have gathered from this site i picked the rite truck for my new drag project. i recently purchased a 1978 LUV Mikado step side that (to be truthful) is a bit much to handle. The guy who I bought it from did all his own electrical work by himself, and lets just say that he is not a electrician. Ive had it for two months and im still trying to make sense of his wiring. The ultimate plan for my LUV is a V8 swap and full suspension and drive train rebuild. So if anybody can give me some good advice or point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. :D

Welcome to the site! Best advice I can give is to read, read, and then read some more. Lots of good V8 swap advice. Pics are nice too.

You have no idea. This is my third Chevy step side. '71 C-10, '89 2500 (RIP), and now the LUV. One may say I "like" step sides. :signlove

One question i have is what is a good rear end for the V8 swap? Most of the stuff i work on doesn't require me to mess with the drive line much, so I'm a little ignorant to rear ends. I'd like to find a Ford 9", but i have a buddy that has a 8.5" 10 bolt that he may sell to me. I know the 9" is the stronger of the two, but my buddy said that the 10 bolt can be built up to be just as good.

Welcome here.
Get a 9" and never have a problem again.
