Ive been driving my truck around with no heat. It rarely gets hot enough to even defrost the windows. I've made certain that the radiator is clean and the heater core has been cleaned as well. I can feel the hoses being warm. I Bought a tempeture gauge and it doesn't even show a temp (min. 170f gauge) Any ideas guys?

I am having the same problem right now. Here is what my plans are: Check to make sure the levers are still attached to their respective valves and doors, ie changing vent to defrost. Then check the heater valve itself as it may be disconnected and/or blocked. I believe my problem might be both, as my heater (hot to cold) lever seems to be really easy to move and I can't get the vent to close. So as soon as I can, I will pull the heater valve off, clean it out and go through the interior unit for anything disconnected or stuck.

I removed the valve completely and it didn't change. I'm going to pull the entire heater box and see if there is a crack or something on the box allowing cold air

did you also check the coolant to water ratio? running a cooling system with too much antifreeze and not enough water will not allow enough heat to be transferred.

when it was last serviced, did you use the straight gallon, or did you use the 50/50 mixed stuff?

Do you have a thermostat in it? Is the eng. warming up enough? Mine (78) will blow hot air on defrost or heat. But not when on vent. So yea, make sure you cables are moving the proper doors under the dash, and make sure the water valve is opening.

Make sure your water temperature is normal (180*), then with the engine running and heater control on high, feel both heater hoses where they enter and leave the firewall. They both should be hot and at the same temperature. If one is cooler then the other you have restricted flow somewhere, usually inside the heater core itself.
