being in washington state anything pre 86 in my county never has to see an emissions test station in its lifetime.
i bought it from the 4th owner but get this
the first owner babied it until it blew the head gasket, so he rebuilt the engine with the exception of the timing set.
the second owner who bought it from him never installed the timing kit which was in the truck and had it garaged for several years, the third owner bought it and never installed the damn timing kit either. so now the 4th owner and only second one to be able to drive it... i have decided to get it up and running again better than new is the goal. i am in the process of getting another engine for parts that were lost between owners (distributor, valve cover, several misc bolts,
and i figured i might as well remove the clogged up nasty looking emissions garbage that doesn't belong under the hood of that truck. what im wondering is since i plan on removing that return lines to the gas tank while im at it wouldn't simply adding a vented gas cap or a small vent from the tank solve the problem of pressure in the tank? who came up with the idea of running it to the air intake? thats rediculous is that not why we invented the vented gas cap in the first place?
enough ranting... im just wondering if anyone happens to have a picture of the engine with the emissions stuff removed so i can make sure i get everything out of there that i dont absolutely need to make the truck run
