So I have been fighting a battle with my charging system. Changed the alternator(BBB#14119), regulator(BWD#R595), and cleaned up(recrimped new ends) some of the wiring between the batt, alt, and regulator. No charge......... Took the fuse box out checked/cleaned put new ends on. There was no corrosion on my rivets and connection there..... Still no charge....... Had a random condensor laying around, tried that...... It charged!!!!!!!!! Shut if off after 10min of running. Restarted it.......NO CHARGE!!!!! Went down to my local parts store to have them test everything. 8Volts from the alternator, replaced that, regulator was warrantied and replaced. But the problem is that there is no listing for the Regulator condensor!!!!!!! They sold me three. a BorgWarner #g84,#g583, and a #g120a. The g583 and g120a produced the same result. No charge after shutting off the truck and restarting it. I had to recrimp the ends on those. The G84 worked for 2days!!!!!!!
I also have the OE Chevy Luv Shop Manual and Parts Catalog and there is no info or mentioning about it. Just a miniscule picture of it in a engine charging wiring description.
Anyone have the OE part # for this Regulator condensor?? Any Ideas?? Of course I threw the old one away in frustration(On the side of the road)
Oh yah, It's a 1975 Luv-
Thanks for any info....

Just for the fun of it remove the fuse box so you can see the rivets on the bottom. Use a test lead to create a circuit that bypasses the areas that are riveted together. Does that have any effect? If it changes things you need to remove the rivets, clean, and replace with new rivets; or solder. I think that some of the electrical and regulator gremlins that LUV owners sometimes experience can be traced to those rivets. Good Luck.

From the many years of working on this little jewels I have learned that the condenser you mentioned has nothing to do with charging or not, it whole purpose is to keep static/noise out of the radio!
You didn't mention what year truck you have, but from 76 on the regulator also had an extra relay built into it, the purpose being to close a circuit which then sents a signal to a relay mounted on the inside of the right fender that turned the electric fuel pump on.
If you have a manual fuel pump mounted on the engine, the above does not apply to your Luv.
I just mentioned the above because the extra relay can cause intermitant charging problems like you described.
The advice you recieved in the message above this one is invaluable, many, many of us have suffered from elelctrical problems caused by bad connections at the fuse box so check it out carefully.
Frankly the best advice I can give you is to read up on the various advice given about how to change over to a one wire Delco alternator, it will make your truck a lot more reliable, and the charging system much more powerful. Just a suggestion, you will find a lot of information about changing alternator mounts, etc in the "Drive Train Upgrades" section of this site.
Good luck, scjconv

Just following up on the above message, go to "Drivetrain Upgrades'" and scroll down to "regulator woes" you might find your answer there.
