well I cant find any of the dimensions I had gotten at Shawny Bs place. I need to know the length of the bushing in the frame and also what size bolt it uses. anyone have that info handy?

I have a stock arm here so I can do every other measurement I need. Ill draw this in CAD so you guys can do measuring and see if these will clear. That way I can make changes before building the prototype.

also someone with headers please measure how far back from the crossmember where the bushing is back to the header tube.

thanks

Below is a pic of the header to lower a arm clearance. The closest point is 2.375 from the outer edge of the a arm to the header tube.

Image

On your drawing with the weld on outrigger, I notice that it attaches to the frame. The center of the lower a arm mounting point is approximtely 3.5 inches away from the frame and approximately 2.5 inches below the frame. Depending on the distance towards the rear of the truck, the starter may interfere. I can check when you get a better idea of the measurement.

Image

Below is a picture of the lower a arm mounting bolt. It is .625 inches in diameter.

Image

The pic below shows the frame bushing. It is 1.5 inches in diameter, the length is 2.8375

Ok I will do some figuring on those measurements.

its metric so we are talking a 16mm bolt and dang near 3" long on the frame bushings.

I can add the frame bushing and all that to the drawing if you guys need me to. I am turning the bushings and balljoint cups on the lathe now and I may get time to work on the jig tomorrow. I may have something to show off on monday.

Someone who has a frame apart please see if a 5/8" bolt will slide easily thru the supension bushing holes. Im thinking it will but Id like to know for sure before I make the threaded tubes for the arms.

I cut several pieces yesterday and Im working on other pieces today.

Yes, a 5/8 bolt works fine. No more play with it than the stock one. Both shanks measure .625...

I figured it would fit and since there will be another bushing on the other end there wont be any slop. The small tube in the front will have a centering sleeve in it that fits tight over the bolt.

The bushing on the back will be an energy suspension poly bushing they sell for 4 links. they are graphite impregnated polyurethane. Ill make this as narrow as possible.

Ok I got the bushing sleeves turned and ready to go. Now the balljoint cups need to be finished then its time to put it all on the jig.

I should have something to show you guys by the end of the week.

Well I know that the uppers have to be 1/2" longer than stock. The lowers I have all the pieces cut and turned on the lathe and I will be TIG welding the pieces together tomorrow then building the lowers this week finally.

Id like to check them on Shawny B's truck before I ship them out to MTMZ

From what I saw Sunday (yesterday) I know the lowers will work and Im glad to finally get this project rolling.

Ive been so freakin busy I just went back to my original plan of building more than one set of each so I can try to catch up.

I can also make these for coil overs also if anyone is interested.

That's fine by me, trying them on ShawnyB's first. I am going to be running coilovers, if that makes any difference...

It just means adding the little tubes on the lowers that hole the coilover. Or leaving the bag plate off so you can add that.
