Hey guys i'm currently trying to locate the vin on the frame of my 72 luv. I already check out the following link viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13222&hilit=frame+vin+location which shows it on the crossmember near the gas tank. I sanded it down but there is no vin there on my 72. Is it possible that they never put one on the frame for that year? Thanks

I'll check tonight but my truck has been undercoated (not by me) so no guarantees...I believe there is a VIN under the cowl as well. At the Glendale, CA DMV I just showed them the door tag and they were happy. There's a thread on here about my fun at the DMV trying to get mine registered from out of state

ya I found the one under the cowl and that was good enough for the officer that inspected it.

I've only seen the vin on the back side of the torsion bar x member on the 76 and later trucks. You almost have to get the fuel tank out to see it.

When I was replacing my 4x4 drive shaft I saw mine on the cross member near the gas tank. 1980.
