I have a turbo 400 in my Chevy dually. I am changing the filter and when I was removing the fliter I noticed it wasn't tight but the hold down bolt was. I have not see the filter loose so am wondering if this is correct? There is a spacer between the filter and valve body but it is like the spacer is too short. Anybody have any ideas? Also I am installing a deep pan, do I have to lower the fliter or does it stay in the stock position? Thanks in advance for any help.

Joe

The filter in the TH 400 just floats in there as there is an O-ring on the case end and the bolt holding it in place. As for the deep pan generally they come with an extension to lower the filter.

Thanks tj, I got the pan used from a buddy and he didn't have the extension. Maybe I should just go with the original pan.

Check your local GM / Chevy truck dealer, I believe they have the extender and O rings for the deep pan.

I'll do that. I live right next door to a Chevy dealer. The who is doing my tranny out of the race truck may have one, but if that falls through I will check next door. Thanks.
