Yes, after 9 years I am finally getting my truck painted. Just got the bed painted last night and couldn`t wait to show it off. I didn`t make the 4th of July parade again this year but I will soon have my little jewell back on the road and looking beautiful again. My cousin, a retired paint/bodyman is painting the truck for me. And the best part is, he doing it for FREE ! I did buy the paint and all the other supplies needed. But a professional paint job for $272.00 so far, is hard to beat.

I am fired up good now ! I can actually see some light at the end of the tunnel. Will post pics of the finished paint job soon. I hope ! .

Spent the last 2 days installing ny new dash. It wasn`t as bad of a job as i thought it would be, but still a lot of work. But it turned out beautiful and i am very happy with the results.

The hardest part was trimming the new dash and cutting the hole and installing the speaker/defroster grille. But i took my time and it looks great.

Hit a snag when i went to put my original am fm radio from my old 79 4x4 in . The original speaker has been replaced and now the original radio won`t go all the way in. I am looking for a good original speaker.

Good luck with the speaker. If you do find one that fits I would like to know what kind it is. I wanted to put a new aftermarket speaker in my truck just to have that speaker area used for another speaker besides the boxes I have behind the seats. I did some measuring on the old one and then looked through my Crutchfield magazine and didn't find much. There was one or two that I was thinking about trying, but haven't done so yet. It might be harder for me though since I have a new stereo in there and not the original. The stock stereos aren't as long, so I don't think the speaker depth matters as much.

I took an old stereo speaker apart and found a small round speaker that went in with no problem. It sounds as good as the original. My original AM FM radio went back in with no problems this time. My new dash looks beautiful with the radio and all the instruments back in and ice cold air coming from the vents !

The glass shop came today and installed a new windsheild and seal. Things are coming together now. I still need to put the fenders back on and the headlights, grille and front bumper. Still some work to do, but I will be "cruising " soon !

Almost finished ! :D

Still need to finish the interior, do something with the wheels and install the grille, bumper and headlight bezels.

I couldn`t wait to take it out for a "shake down" run, so I took my wife for about a 100 mile ride along the Ohio River yesterday. It was 92 degrees here so I had the Air on the whole trip and it worked perfect and the truck ran perfect. When I stopped for gas, a guy at the gas station went nuts when he saw the LUV and tried to buy it ! It got looks all day.

With no carpet, no door seals and no door panels, she is pretty noisy, but I loved driving it anyway. I think it will be ptetty nice when I get it finished.

Ike

Very nice looking truck. What are you going to do for wheels?
