just thought id post this, i was on my way to work this morn. and HOLY SH*T? here comes a luv the other way on the highway.
had to be a 77 or older cuase of the 4 headlights. was baby blue w/ some nice looking grafics on the side. ,kinda hard to see at 70mph tho, and had a ugly ass bed cap on it (eeeeewwwwww)
these trucks are getting so rare around here, this was the first one id seen (othere than mine) for about 2yrs.
if i was'nt already late for work i would have chased him down (providing it was stock and i could catch him in my cavy  )
oh well that was my luv sighting for the day lol

btw this can be an ongoing thread. feel free to post any luv sightings you may have. the one in your driveway, garage, shed, barn ect dont count!!! nor do trips to the junkyard.
and Tilted you going to vist yours at your dads dont count!!! (love the blue door tho man  )

Hey larphead,

Well just for the sake of knowledge there are 5 LUV's running around my little podunk town. They are all owned by people who have no Idea that they are anyting but "basic transportation" beat up and not taken care of, There is only 1 other than mine that is in any way treated nicely, But it's all show no go. Mine may not look all that nice but it will definately get down and dirty when I ask...

Here in and around Las Vegas, I see about 10 LUV's rolling the roads. This is without trying to find them. Near Cedar City, about 200 miles from here, I have seen 4 more either sitting in the weeds or in driveways. One of those in the weeds is a 1978 or older STEPSIDE which, with a little fiberglass work, and rebuilding, hhhhmmmmmmm!!!

Ok, since mine don't count, I did see one on the way back to Denver last weekend. There is a town half way between called "Wheatland" There is a yard off the highway that has about 60 55-57 chevy's, most of them are 4 doors and posts but it is still kind of cool. Right before that, I see a badass 68 Chevelle that was all black for sale, well if I wasn't checking that out so hard at 80 MPH, I would have been able to see more about the pre-78 LUV dragtruck that was right next to it for sale also. I was going to try to turnaround but there wasn't an exit anywhere close and I DID have my digital camera with me (hence the blue door pic). It was dark blue and looked like it was in show quality condition! I am going back to my parents town the 2nd week of October and hopefully it will still be there!
Oh yea, Hey Larphead, do you want my white door for your truck?? We could be opposites!!! 8O

Sure you can! It took me about 10 years to get mine looking like it did! Then about 5 seconds to trash it!

Here in Oklahoma city I've seen quite of few LUV's runnin around and just as many rustin away in backyards. One of the guys up my local Autozone bought a 77 drag LUV, it was tubbed, narrowed frame, 4 link 12bolt rear, 350/350 combo, really clean, but he told me that a 13.9 was his best time in the quarter :? not much of drag truck i guess......hope mine does just a little better than that

I just finished replacing the fuel injection in my SS and took it for a test drive today. 2 blocks from my house I seen this LUV. It is pretty rough but around here in Denver, you never see LUV's around town. I have lived at my current place for 6 years and never seen this one, must not be from here (no plates on it).

Nope, nobody around at the time and the way it is parked, it could be a number of houses.

I saw one on the freeway yesterday. The back was full of lawn mowers and lawn equipment. LOL!

Seen 3 LUV's while I was out CD shopping today!!! First one was a yellow 4x4 with a nice aluminum topper  and it was pretty beat. Then I seen a red 2 wheel drive that was in excellent condition and a white 2 by that was in decent shape. I think they were both 78's and were within 4 blocks of each other! That is more in one day than I have seen in the last year!! Oh yea, I also seen 2 sweet 57 Chevys (my dream car)!

I'm starting to see more LUV's now that I drive one.... but I have noticed that I'm more likely to see them runnin' around in the smaller towns, not the city. My little "japenese emperor" goes anyplace one of the spendy new little compact cars go... parking spaces on the street and those old, narrow bridges included! I even encountered seeing a 79 a couple of weeks ago ( obviously new bright red paint job ) at an auto dealership for $1755... didn't stop to see what was under the hood.
I'm not seeing many rusting away in fields anymore..... OR & WA have passed ecological and environmental ordinances, laws, statues, etc the last few years... that require land owners to clean up and/or remove older non-operating vehicles..... or the politcal types offer to have it done for them. :? My Dad had a go around or two..... he has his "valuables" of tractors, International pick-ups and a couple Diamond T's.... that adorn his acreage. :) He thought maybe he'd "clean out" his equipment and bring in a "mess of hogs" instead for the neighborhood to enjoy! lol So much for tinkering and treasuring for now. :?
