I wanted to take a moment and tell of you thanks for the help getting ol' blue back together and running again. I rescued this truck for $80 from a farmer near here, and have less than $33 in it now. I bartered my labor to a friend that runs a machine shop for a total engine rebuild, and now have it back in the truck and running. The last time this beast had been tagged was in 2000, so you can imagine what it was like after being in a field all that time. But like an idiot, I decided I wanted it in my garage, and it's been HELL ever since. Would I do it again? Not in this lifetime. But I sure had a blast in the shop. The biggest problem was getting all of the fuel lines and tank cleaned of varnish, and replacing the wiring that had been a smorgasbord for the packrats. I'm still working on one set of headlights on the passenger side that will work just fine until I turn on the signal. Then the lights stay on, but it won't blink. Turn off the headlights, and everything works just fine. Thanks Tazman. The schematic you sent me, cost me $5 at the local prints shop. Now I have it about the size of a newpaper, laminated, and hanging on the side of my toolbox. Can't worry about getting it dirty, Mark on it with a Sharpie, wipe it off, and it's there for the next time. The problems nothing major, but it's enjoying kicking my butt til' I get it figured out. Hate those damn electrical gremlins. I think I'd rather shave a bobcats butt with a butter knife in a phonebooth than chase down wiring problems.
Again...thanks to all of you for the help. Kept me from losing the last of my mind.

Here's a good thing to know about your turn signal dilemma. You can remove one of the blade connectors with a paperclip or needle and make it fit the standard 2 prong flasher relay, instead of using the older style that cannot be found.

Also, you may want to replace the wiring harness completely for one reason-because it is made out of cookie dough, and cake frosting.

At lease the rodents think so.

There is one behind my seat right now. You think I am kidding, but I am not.

I would bet you have a ground problem with what you described.

I hear you my friend. Truer words have never been spoken-I have always loved electricity and electronics, but when it comes to wiring problems, gah-I'd just-rather not.

You betcha!!!! Grounds cause all kinds of weird things. In some ways they are more important than the hot, and harder to find. Ask any VW guy

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.
