Yesterday during lunch, I saw what has to be one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
I went to a local Subway for lunch. Parked in the lot was an Ishpeming city police car. I park to the left of it and notice the driver's window is all the way up on the warmest day so far this year.
I go inside expecting to see the cop(s) eating lunch, but the only customers are a couple in a booth. I get my lunch and go to sit down and glance out the window. A city cop is at the police car's driver door with a fistfull of keys trying each, one by one. After none prove to be the right one, he pulls out a "slim-jim", slips it down next to the door glass and tries to to get it open.
I chuckle and comment to the couple eating lunch how I wish I had a cell phone that could take videos & pictures. They tell me he locked his keys inside, walked a few blocks to the police station and came back with the bunch of keys.
I continue to watch this fellow furiously working the "slim-jim" for about 5 to 10 minutes before giving up on it. He steps back, looks at the vehicle and begins to walk around the car contemplating his next move. As he circles around to the passenger side, he notices the window is down about 4". He reaches in, grabs the lock button, pulls up and opens the door.
Only if I'd had a video phone, it would have been priceless!!!!
It just goes to prove, just because one wears a badge, it doesn't automatically make you the sharpest tool in the shed.
