My 79 4X4 gets seem s to be losing spark after 10 mins. of driving around. It died on my kids a couple times this week.
I have Pertronix, new cap, rotor, plugs, and newer wires on it.
I though it was the coil/resister so I swaped them out with known good ones from my 78. It fired up and I drove it around for a while. Then it started sputtering on acceleration. Not constant, but just a little now and them. I thought it was fuel starvation and was thinking clogged filter or vapor lock. But then it died while I was starting to go after stoping for a red light.
I checked for spark out of the coil wire, and, again none there. I will pull it home (it's a couple blocks away) and play with the test light and see what I see.
Any segestions??? I'm a little unclear on route the electicity takes from battery to the spark plugs on an ignition system.
I'm kin of lost at the coil. +- coil wire...??? Resister and points/Pertronix???
