My 79 4X4 gets seem s to be losing spark after 10 mins. of driving around. It died on my kids a couple times this week.

I have Pertronix, new cap, rotor, plugs, and newer wires on it.
I though it was the coil/resister so I swaped them out with known good ones from my 78. It fired up and I drove it around for a while. Then it started sputtering on acceleration. Not constant, but just a little now and them. I thought it was fuel starvation and was thinking clogged filter or vapor lock. But then it died while I was starting to go after stoping for a red light.

I checked for spark out of the coil wire, and, again none there. I will pull it home (it's a couple blocks away) and play with the test light and see what I see.

Any segestions??? I'm a little unclear on route the electicity takes from battery to the spark plugs on an ignition system. :?
I'm kin of lost at the coil. +- coil wire...??? Resister and points/Pertronix???

I would guess heat saturation in the windings of the pick up in the pertronix. Do you have a spare dist to install and test drive?

Yea. I can do that. It's freakin hot outside and I just chain -pulled it home.

But I got the '80 all back to the good carb., and running nice, so the kids still have one truck to share. That's keeps them off our backs to borrow our car and truck. I say "Those two Fords take us to work and bring home the paychecks. You can't use them." :smt018 They hate me, but that's my job, I'm DAD!! :smt019
