I'm probably getting ahead of myself here, but I wanted to ask opinions.
I noticed on my way home from the store today a little 76(?) LUV sitting back in some guys field. Well, I pulled in, knocked on the door and asked if he would ever consider selling it. We went out and looked at it, and it has probably the cleanest body I have seen on a car that has been parked for 5 years. No rust, no body damage, just a cracked dash and crumbling steering wheel. The engine compartment was occupied largely by sleeping wasps, and several spiders eating said wasps, but it also looked decent for it's age. He said a new battery, new hoses, oil, and filters, and it should run again. The best part (besides the excellent body condition)? 37k original miles and he is the original owner. He didn't seem excited to sell it, saying he has been wanting to get it running again for the last 5 years, he's just been preoccupied putting a second story on his house. However, he's going to think about it. His wife, apparently, wants him to get rid of it and the other vans he has parked back there. He has my number and I have his, should I have any other questions.
My question to you all is, what should I offer/haggle the price to, should he decide to sell it? He told me he sold his still-running mid-80's GMC for only $500, and has no personal attachment to this truck, other than the 4 cylinder engine with the rising gas prices.
I sure this works out. Thanks for reading all my jibber-jabber.
