i have a 79 4wd with a header. my clutch cable froze down by the exhaust header. i called about some header heat tape stuff and right now its too expensive any body know any other ideas? dose anyone have this problem? is that what actually caused my calbe to freez? what else would?

i have the header on mine and never had a problem, sometime the cable will fray at a end and cause it to freeze up or dirt that got into the cable ends

i would rather have the cosworth than anything! even any v8 i would LOVe to get my hands one one ofthose till i needed to fix it.

i see them from time to time on craigslist for $300 to $1500 for the motor.. i sure hope i can get it in this summer but i am sure it will be by next summer, need to build the hole truck.. they are just a vega block with a cosworth head, all parts are vega in the block and trans.

You might try some heater hose on it. See it you can pull away the cable from the header.
Real dry cable could cause it to stick. Have you freed it up. If so and you can get the cable out. You might me able to grease it. Try using High Temp Disc brake wheel bearing grease.

You could try to make a metal heat shield from some scrap metal.
