I'd like to get some input on a new bumper I'm in the process of fabricating. Any comments welcome. This is a hunting rig but I still want it to look decent.

these are fabbing and fitting.

The original turn signal lights will be hard to fit. Does anyone know where to get smaller, maybe round lights?

Thanks for the tips and thanks for the compliment LuvProjects. I tried Wally world and Autozone and all they had was running or fog lights and trailer lights. Nothing was rigged for a turn signal and running light at the same time. I will check a rig up shop next.

I haven't put any gusseting on the backside. I don't think I will need to since I don't intend to do any bush wacking. The bumper will be pretty solid the way it is since the plates are welded at an angle and bent at the ends and using 3/16 plate. I will be able to use the original bumper brackets so that it can go back to original easily.

Really nice! You just might have a market for a few of these...

Your local truck stop probably has dozens of various size LED's to choose from for turn signals.

Please post photos of the finished product :)

The bumper looks good! Did you chrome it or is it just polished or painted? I am sure you would be able to sell a few of those if you wanted to keep making them. Nice work! 8)

Looks Great! I like how it has a "stock" feel to it, but could it a train at 87mph and not even flinch

The bumper is not finished yet and still has to be painted. I was quoted $125 to have it powder coated. I'm not sure if I'll do that or not. The bumper is a whole lot stronger than the original since originals are basically heavy duty tin foil. It deffinately won't stop a speeding train although there is room where it can be re-inforced from behind.

Thanks for the comments,

Go to a local truck stop, big truck dealership, or chrome toystore for big trucks.
They have lots of different lights that will work for turn/marker lights. Many are mounted in a rubber mount and just pop into an oval or round hole you could cut into the bumper.
Oval LED's would look cool!

I like what you built. I too, like the original look to it. Good job!

I built a bumper for my luv to. Not near as nice as yours but I took a piece of 8 inch heavy C chanel and turned the corners in at a slight angle, and for turn signals I used what rondog was talking about. Their about 3 1/2 inch's round U just cut your holes with a torch 2 fit the ruber gaskets pop in the lights, hook up the two wires and u got blinkers. Just make sure you cut your holes a bit small first. Rather than cuttin them out to big the first time. THATS A REALY NICE BUMPER

Thanks mikew, I'm almost finished and I did get the lights your are talking about. I got LED lights but I'm having a hard time wiring them in. There are 3 wires on them and so far I can't seam to get the right combination to get running lights and turn signal on both sides. Today I'll be cleaning up my fuse panel and replacing the tail bulbs and flasher to eliminate interference from them. I'll post pics when it's done.

That is awesome! great job! It does look a little sci-fi after the paint job, but still kick ass! Now if those were offered in chrome I am sure you would have some buyers! 8)
