Ah, another LUV collector. I currently have 10. 2 daily drivers, 4 potential projects, and 4 wrecked/rusted junkers. I just love never having to look for trim or misc parts if I need them.

That relay is a pretty simple part. It seems like one could find a headlamp or off road light relay that would work in its place. I've never had to track one down with my wealth of spares, but seems like it shouldn't be too tough to find something that would work. I'll take a look at the plug pinout and see what our local NAPA place can come up with. That should give us a part number that will cross reference most anywhere. This is one of those "must have" items that tends to go out, so a replacement would be handy, especially one made a little better or newer than the stock replacement.

I like your choice of placement for the guage cluster in the middle. That is totally wasted space unless you want to run that stock LUV AM radio with the single center speaker. (Actually I have a stock AM/FM somewhere around, woo hoo for me!)

That 80 looks pretty straight to me, I'd say you got a hell of a deal. Out of all those Luv trucks you got to have at least one with a V-8. Man, throw a small block and some spray on that 80 and reach for the stars! :P

DAMN! You got a hell of a deal Nelson. That was definately worth selling the laptop. You never told me you had 4 Luvs. You need to send one back east for me. Good job, later. Joe

You can bypass and get a dead truck running, but I would not keep it like that forever. The fuel pump normally runs all the time that the engine is running, but cuts off if the engine dies thanks to that relay. The idea is that in an accident the engine dies and the pump dies with it to prevent feeding a fire under the hood. It could also get ugly if the float valve on your carb leaked a little by when the pump is running. Think intake filled with fuel from the overflow.

Someone else here mentioned an alternative to the relay would be hooking up an oil pressure switch in its place. Does the same thing, just in a different way.

This will make you sick... I used to have people GIVE me LUV trucks all the time just because they knew i was into them. I got 2 for free and one I paid $150 for. we're talking complete trucks that just had been sitting in a dirt lot for years. excellent bodies. I used to sell tailgates for $40 and rear ends for $40. I never thought in a million years that it would be so hard to find parts for these things. At some point i even told people NO I dont want your $100 running LUV truck because I have no place to put it. I will now go and kick myself.
