Hello. Recently developed "spongey" brakes on 1980 Luv 4x4. Pedal almost goes to floor. When they finally catch, they tend to lock up.
Cannot find any signs of leaking fluid anywhere and reservoirs appear to be full.
Starting point?

You could check to make sure your brake pads/shoes arent worn out. Possibly yor drums or discs are excessively worn also.

How you checked the brakes lately?

Sounds like a bad Master cylinder.

If your going to do one bit you might as well overhaul the whole system.

If the master is the issue and you fix it it will work better and that will give the rest of the system more pressure to cope with.

If you have drums all round it could be bad adjustment.

My tip is that the rear circuit is gone and you have front brakes only.

Do not wait on checking out your brakes...I bet it is a bad master as other have said. You might as well replace the pads while you are at it.
