Contemplating a V-8 RX-7 swap . Seems this is a very popular swap . i'm basically looking for input . I'm at the point were i either have to start cutting up my truck or just build a drag car and enjoy my truck as it is . I guess this will be my first poll .

Don't cut up the LUV. That one is too nice to hack up.
I agree with mytmouz. Find a POS LUV and cut it up for a racer.

Since that wasn't a poll option though, I wouldn't cut up the truck. It's pretty good just like it is. If you decide on the RX7 swap, it'll have to be cut up anyway. You would have 2 then. I've not done the RX7 thing, but I have had a Triumph TR7 and a Datsun 240Z car. They were fun and different. I liked them both. The stocker rears will NOT last, I doubt the Mazda will either. One thing to think on though is most swap kits have smallish header tubes for fitment ease. I'm assuming you want to swap to go faster, I believe you probably will need bigger headers. If it were me, I'd fab my own mounts and build/buy a fabbed set. The cost of a swap kit would go a long way on a fabbed set...

I am working on a 18* headed big inch smallblock , a powerglide , and have a 9" and a buddy who narrows them that owes me a favor . Also have 35 spline axles , center with spool , and a 4 link kit . 29.5 x 10.5 slicks are everywhere with 6 passes for $50 a set . I think I would fab everything myself to cut cost . Probably at least fit the headers and have them tig welded up . I would more than likely set the luv back up for 11.50's ( did I say that out loud ? )on motor only . Just to give everyone an ideal where I stand currently . Another Luv does sound appealing .
