 Post subject: BALL JOINT REMOVAL

Can someone tell me what size socket i need to undo the large nut holding the top ball joints in. Thanks.

Im sure its probably metric...so I know I will get a beating for saying this...

I used a 2 1/4" socket, and it worked fine.

Yep, when I redid mine on I switched to disc brakes I had to grind it into. it was hell trying to break the old nut loose.

I used a air chisel with a flat chisel tip and had to unscrew the nut with the air chisel, or chisel a spot into the nut all the way to the treads.

OzLuvTrucker, ive got one of my new ones rolling around on the floor of my spacecab. For that exact reason, a tool to undo the old ones to put the new one in.



You could weld something to the old one and get it out. Clean up the threads and screw the new one in.


Or if your handy with a welder you could make a ring socket. Not sure how good that would be if i rememebr right the BJ is 12 hex.
