here's an idea
go to wal-mart
buy a couple cans of that doublicolor spay on bedliner stuff in the can
spray on dash and any other surface that you want.

i used the stufff on the safari rack on my mom's Suburban, works great, grippy and easy to clean, has a nice "tough" look to it too.

planing on using it on my rockers to help keep the rust down, might try it on the door sills too, make it easier to get in an out, with out slipping (ha yeah right having trouble getting into a LUV who am i kidding!!) i'v even seen whole trucks done in the stuff not too bad if you ask me

How hard I wonder and what material could one use to mold a templet for the dash and make a fiberglass cover for the dash. Then you could just paint it. If we could come up with a mold we could sell them here and let people install the cover and do it themselves.

I would love to be able to have new dashes, but I wouldn't want a fiberglass one. I would want one like the stock one. I wonder how hard it would be to have a mold made and new dashes built? The Aussie ones are probably great if the shipping wasn't $400.

Yes he did. It's steel under all that foam.

The dash pad is steel? You mean the dash framing is.

The carpet in my truck is a low-pile stretchy type that was made especially for automotive or boat use since it is water resistant, stain resistant, and durable as hell. Plus it's easily molded into odd shapes.

I got mine at a foam & fabric place locally that caters to people that upholster old cars, trucks, boats, etc.

It should be pretty easy to cover any stripped dash with some thin foam padding and put it on top of that to match the color scheme of your truck.

It comes in a lot of different colors and is easily applied by using a can of spray contact cement-like adhesive.

Or just get some thin foam and some black vinyl upholstery material and do the same thing.

Another option is to glue on a dash cap and maybe put a dash pad on top of that if your dash isn't too far gone. That's what I did.

I would settle for a fiberglass mold to slip over the entire dash and cutout the different holes as needed or leave the glove box and top of the dash solid.
I might just fiberglass all my top and sand it smooth and paint it.

If you have a complete fiberglass dash how do you mount it. How thick is the glass on it and how strong.
How did you mold it, with rubber or something. is it the exact shape of the original.
