I know I got tired of competing against "Non Driven, Trailered, Pampered, Garaged" trucks. You couldn't win. Thats what kicked me out of Minitruckin. At least the Show side of it. My trucks were daily driven. I had to. Thats how I advertised.
I know the feeling. I got out of showing about 15 years ago for the same reason.
Too many doctors, bankers, stockbrokers, and lawyer types were paying restoration shops big bucks to do everthing, and then paying them to store and trailor their cars and trucks to the shows for them.
A do-it-yourself'er with a daily driver didn't stand a chance against the darn yuppie scumbags. Most of them couldn't even drive their own cars and trucks, and the same few guys with real deep pockets were constantly winning everywhere.
And now for the last 10 years, the shows around here are starting to fill up with pimped out ricers more and more too...so I don't even like to go to them much any more.
Now my '78 stepside Luv is headed towards being a well-done clean-looking rat rod, with very little bling and just enough power to make me happy. And I go to meet-n-greet's with some of the old-timers around here once in a while...but even they don't get together very often any more.
Man...I sure do miss showing my backyard-created stuff back in the old days...
